Intern - Technical Writing (Summer 2023)

At United, we have some of the best aircraft in the world. Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well looked after and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Aid in authoring and management of technical manuals, company manuals, and task cards
  • Lead process improvement and automation projects
  • Support platform transition projects
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Must be currently enrolled full-time in a Technical Writing or related degree program.
  • Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours in core Technical Writing or related degree program.
  • Individual should be a rising junior (at minimum) when internship begins.
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Professional demeanor, excellent written, and verbal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Work related travel may be required, individuals must travel without any restrictions.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Completed college level technical writing course
  • General knowledge of XML based authoring
  • Project management skills
  • Previous professional working experience
  • Project experience in courses related to core course work in Technical Writing
